Ellen Reid

Resident Artist

Ellen Reid is a composer and sound artist whose work “brims with canny invention” (LA Weekly). Reid’s new opera Winter’s Child received a workshop reading as part of The Industry’s FIRST TAKE at the Hammer Museum where it was hailed “full of imagination full of promise” by the LA Times. Her work has been seen with Theater Mitu in Abu Dhabi, UAE (CHAOS, Death of a Salesman and A Dream Play) and New York (DR.C and Canticle).  Reid’s work has been seen internationally at the United Nations in Bangkok Thailand, PACT Zollverein (Essen, Germany), 104 (Paris, France),  cˇu’m„a* (Istanbul, Turkey). Recent LA credits include music direction and composition for Prometheus Bound at the Getty Villa, a joint commission from the Getty Museum and Machine Project and the score for the award winning film She Gone Rogue with Rhys Ernst and Zackary Drucker. Reid holds a BFA from Columbia and an MFA from California Institute for the Arts.  She has been a resident artist with Theater Mitu since 2008.
